Stan Spottswood holds the B.A. in music education from the University of Charleston, and a M.A. in Music Education from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. He holds Certification in levels I, II and III in Orff-Schulwerk. He taught for 18 years as a music educator in the Kanawha County School System, in Charleston, WV, in elementary, middle school, and high school positions.
Mr. Spottswood is the founder and artistic director of the Multicultural Arts Camp, a summer arts camp for elementary and middle school students. From 1996-2004, Mr. Spottswood has been an instructor and director with the African-American Heritage Arts Camp. He previously worked for the past 10 years as the minister of music at the All Nations Revival Center, where he has worked with both youth and adults. He is presently director of the choir program at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Montgomery County, MD. Mr. Spottswood has three gospel recordings: a choral compilation He is Worthy, a praise & worship CD entitled My Lips Shall Praise Thee, and a jazz gospel recording entitled Ambitions.

More About Stanley Spottswood

Mr. Spottswood is the president and founder of StanSpottmusic, providing music education products for children, gospel music, jazz, workshops, and other music-related services. He is the composer of Kwanzaa Suite, which includes nine original songs and an accompanying CD, published by World Music Press. His book/CD Music Tools for Educators, which contains songs that teach math, reading, science, and social studies concepts through music, was released in 2002. His latest CD, Manners Songs for Children by Stan Spottswood, was released in 2005. Three of his compositions for children have been recently released as part of the McMillan McGraw-Hill textbook series, Spotlight On Music.
Stan was ordained as an elder by Bishop T.D. Jakes an has been preaching the gospel for over ten years. He is presently attending Hope Christian Church in Lanham MD. He is the husband to Savolia Ellis Spottswood and father of Stanley Jr., Stephen, Simeon, and Savolia.
